Department of Education School Broadband Programme

Tá nascacht leathanbhanda ardluais ag an scoil seo anois trí Chlár Leathanbhanda Scoile na Roinne Oideachais agus Óige, a soláthraíodh mar chuid de Phlean Náisiúnta Téarnaimh agus Athléimneachta na hÉireann (NRRP) faoin tSaoráid Téarnaimh agus Athléimneachta arna mhaoiniú ag an Aontas Eorpach trí NextGenerationEU.

This school now has high speed broadband connectivity through the Department of Education School Broadband Programme, delivered as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.

Green Schools

The Green Schools initiative is a student led programme which gives pupils an opportunity to take ownership of an environmental issue and create a positive change in their school and local community. Our Green Schools committee is made up of pupils and staff and meet regularly. We currently have five Green School Flags - Energy, Litter and Waste, Water, Global Citzenship: Marine and Water, and Travel.

Student Council

Our student council was established in the 2023/24 school year. A student council gives students in a school a voice in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents.

The council consists of eight student members (one from each class in the school from 1st to 6th class) and a teacher’s liaison member appointed by the principal.

Active Schools

Scoil Mhuire is participating in the Active School Flag initiative. An Active School Flag is awarded to schools that can fulfil criteria across 4 areas:

  1. Physical Education

  2. Physical Activity

  3. Partnerships

  4. Active School Week

The process provides opportunities for the voices of the children/young people to be heard and responded to in a meaningful way. It invites student feedback, ideas and suggestions and challenges students to lead change within their schools.
