Engineering Week takes place from 4th - 10th March.
It is a week-long programme of nationwide events celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland. The aim of the week is to create a positive awareness of and spark enthusiasm about the engineering profession among young people with little or no engineering background.
Here in Scoil Mhuire we are taking an active part in Engineering Week.
All classes will complete some fun hands on engineering tasks in the Hall - including building pyramids from plastic cups, creating bridges, constructing towers and many more engineering activities.
Some of the Senior classes will have a talk and workshop with an engineer to learn more about the different projects engineers are involved in.
4th and 5th Class will take part in Dr. Megaphone's Irish Jaunt at Engineers Ireland Headquarters. This is described as a journey in words, pictures, music and live experiments through Ireland’s history in Science, Technology and Engineering. The girls will learn about hurricanes, diving bells and a cat that may, or may not, be alive.
Sounds like its going to be great show!
